About you: You will be a people-first person who brings a common-sense mindset to your work and adopts an approachable style in your professional interactions. You will be self-motivated and keen to learn from top-tier lawyers who are the best at what they do.
In terms of experience, you will have 5-8 years' experience in Government procurement or projects, contract law, procurement, or commercial arrangements in a boutique or large legal or consulting firm, or Government department. Ideally, this will be gained in a defense or related national security context (e.g., with exposure to the ASDEFCON suite of contracts or related Commonwealth procurement suites).
You will either be an existing Senior Associate or Special counsel or an exceptional Associate who is ready to take the leap in their career. Relevant experience could include commercial and contract law, probity, evaluations, approach-to-market development and tendering, negotiations, and procurement and contract management—although we are keen to hear from those with a diverse background in equivalent areas.
Mandatory requirement: please read: Given the nature of our work, an AGSVA-issued security clearance is essential. Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold an active NV1 clearance at minimum. Baseline clearances may be considered for exceptional candidates.

The role: You will be directly involved in delivering nationally significant and high-profile projects for the defence of Australia in the growing maritime, air, land, space, and joint domains.
During your time with us, you will advise on a range of procurement, commercial law, and contracting issues, including: Procurement options, policy, and planning. Commercial strategy, Tender and scope development, including integration and sustainment management, Contract drafting, including on issues such as intellectual property, pricing models, liability frameworks, performance management and KPIs, Collaborative contracting models involving industry and key stakeholders, Tender evaluations, Negotiation strategy setting and delivery, and Contract delivery and management.
As a senior member of our team, you will also take a leading role in the day-to-day management and administration of a team of junior personnel and in directly contributing to client relationships and outcomes and delivering on our firm-wide growth strategy.
