The Senior Land and Built Environment Program Officer's main role is in the review of marine and coastal use and development proposals along the Great Ocean Road, Geelong, and the Bellarine Peninsula. Based out of the award-winning Anglesea office, the collaborative and encouraging team is seeking someone with technical knowledge and skills in the application of environmental policies in Victoria, including the Marine and Coastal Policy.
The position is a job share role meaning we are flexible in the days and times that you will be working with us. It is office-based with an excellent balance of fieldwork, including visits to key tourist spots along the Otway Coastline. The person we are looking for can manage statutory timelines and educate coastal managers in the application of government policy. They will be able to fit in with a team that is ever adapting to the changing coastline in the face of current and future climate hazards by applying place-based, best practice, and long-term coastal hazard risk management and adaptation solutions balancing technical, strategic, and engagement risks.
The position works across a range of innovative and new fields in the marine and coastal environment, from the energy sector and major industry to the restoration of marine habitats in Port Phillip Bay. They will be exposed to and work with a range of stakeholders from coastal committees of management through to government agencies.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications Tertiary qualification preferably related to public land or natural resource management and knowledge and understanding of land management, coastal and marine issues, or environmental planning. This is a part-time fixed-term position available from 3 February 2025 to 29 January 2026. The work location for this position is in the Barwon South West region (Anglesea - working across the Great Ocean Road and the Bellarine Peninsula) with hybrid work arrangements available.
