The Opportunity
We are currently seeking either a Senior Laboratory Engineer or a Laboratory Engineer for geotechnical testing to join Fugro in our established Australian operations.
Based in our brand new lab in Balcatta, you will be working in a small team environment and reporting directly to the Laboratory Team Lead.
Your duties will include:
Perform consolidation, stress path, cyclic and dynamic tests on rock and soil samples using advanced computer control programs or more basic testing for offshore investigations; Record data in electronic format and assist in developing new working methods to improve the efficiency and quality of advanced testing; Provide support in the processing, presenting and checking of advanced test results as well as calibration of test instrument/equipment; Maintain accreditation of the laboratory and promote good QAQC practices for all team members; Monitor ongoing tests, check for specimen behaviour and interpret test programs of relevant site investigation data and standard laboratory testing output.

Within this department, our Laboratory team is dedicated to performing a wide range of tests on soil and rock samples as well as looking after the test data analysis, using cutting-edge equipment and technology.
The team plays a vital role in driving the success of innovative projects, particularly in the offshore windfarm sector, contributing to the development of groundbreaking ventures in the market.

About You
Your success in securing this role will require:
Tertiary degrees in Geotechnical/Civil Engineering or relevant experience in Geotechnical Engineering in the specification of advanced laboratory testing; Sound understanding of offshore geotechnical matters and laboratory testing standards preferably in geotechnical or construction materials; Solid usage of testing software and programming Excel spreadsheets with embedded macros is desirable; Strong communication skills, ability to interface with project stakeholders; Experience with advanced testing equipment such as triaxial, simple shear, direct shear and resonate column is highly beneficial.
