We are seeking a proactive Senior Laboratory Technician to ensure spectroscopy instruments (AAS, ICP-MS, ICP-OES) operate efficiently through routine optimization, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Key responsibilities include preparing calibration solutions and client samples, reviewing analytical data, identifying anomalies, and maintaining documentation in line with quality procedures. The ideal candidate will have commercial lab experience in sample preparation and wet chemistry, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. A chemistry degree and experience with volumetric glassware, auto-pipettes, and Microsoft Office are advantageous but not essential. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing, fast-paced laboratory team.

The day to day Ensuring Spectroscopy instruments are operating at full capacity and minimising preventable downtime due to technical issuesRoutine optimisation and operation of AAS, ICP-MS & ICP-OES instrumentationPerform preliminary review of analytical dataAbility to identify anomalous data and action repeat analysisImplementation of innovationsPreparing calibration solutions and client samples for analysisPrioritising daily workloads, performing instrument performance tests, maintaining documentationCommunicating effectively with staff across multiple shiftsEnsuring all activities are conducted in accordance with the Quality Procedures ManualThe Essentials: Successful completion of a chemistry degree desirable but not essentialCommercial laboratory experience with a working knowledge of sample preparation techniques, solution preparation and wet chemistryCuriosity and willingness to learn new skillsExperience using auto-pipettes and volumetric glassware desirable but not essentialA high degree of attention to detailPossess excellent organisational and time management skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications preferredEveryone matters
