Who are you? You have a track record delivering high quality designs and Java code set you apart. While Java is your strength you can also do one or more of JavaScript, React, SQL, Python, or AWS.You're autonomous and can craft and build solutions with minimal oversight. This doesn't mean you're a lone wolf though and collaboration helps you build the best solutions.You're a full stack dev and equally comfortable designing and building scalable, resilient, cloud native RESTful microservices as you are building front-end SPAs with JavaScript and React.js.You have a natural curiosity and willingness to learn helps you keep up with latest trends and makes you a better all-round technologist. You've worked in an agile environment before, understand the concept of DevOps, and may even have experience with release automation. What is the role? We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who will be joining a cross functional team that works across the real estate, banking and financial sector. You will be joining an agile team that services the entire technology, product and data business. New challenges will lurk around every corner and you'll be in the company of a highly motivated team solving Customer problems collaboratively. Please note that the preferred location will be Brisbane, and the secondary preference will be Sydney. What will you be doing? Collaborate with customers, key stakeholders, Product teams and across all business functions to define, elicit, disseminate and assist as a technical SME with the rollout of changes Preparing and maintaining systems documentation.Promote understanding, facilitate business decision making processes, capture and ensure information is clearly communicated to the target audience.Work in web applications and middleware solutions reviewing external design specifications and providing feedback to the product.Work in an agile team environment delivering digital transformation.You'll be designing and building solutions in Java from start to finish in a small but talented team.Some frontend experience or exposure to React (or Angular, Vue) will help as there will be some light frontend work from time to time.Your apps will be deployed in the cloud and if you don't have a cloud background you can learn on the job!Design, code, test and debug complex software while developing new functionality, and enhancing existing functionality, in order to satisfy customer requirements, both internal and external.Design work encompasses a broader project/system scope. Work is assigned via broad guidelines. Work includes developing detailed specifications from which applications will be written, designed, coded, tested and debugged.Consult with product owners/business partners to define requirements and software design. Evaluate feasibility and make recommendations, considering things such as customer requirements, time limitations, system limitations.Define scope and develop testing methods, collaborating with QA team and other developers. Work with QA team to improve all levels of testing efforts, developing and enhancing testing methods and processes. May also perform testing.Support, maintain and document software functionality. Makes recommendations on and influences engineering processes and methods.Provide operational support on complex/escalated issues to diagnose and resolve incidents in production systems. Incidents tend to be fewer but more complex, requiring analysis of issues, determination of additional resources to resolve the issue, and an in-depth system perspective.Explore and research new and alternate technologies and platforms. Evaluate, recommend, and apply these alternate/new technologies, disseminating information throughout the team/department. This includes documenting large and complex assignments for knowledge transfer and developing expertise in multiple areas. Mentor other team members on area(s) of expertise. Formal qualifications/degree in IT or software engineering.5+ years' experience of an applicable software development environment with in-depth knowledge of Java, Spring boot, API development, Terraform, SQL, Python.2+ years' experience with developing on authorisation and access gateways such as PingFederate, PingDirectory, PingID and APIGee.( Mandatory) Experience with Streaming frameworks such as Kafka and RabbitMQ.Domain specific industry experience in Real Estate, Insurance or Mortgage is a plus.Hands on experience with using Cloud Platforms (specifically AWS, GCP or Azure).AWS certified developer certification (desirable).
