The Senior IT Support Consultant (SQL) works alongside the broader Microsoft Services Team within CITEC. The role combines SQL database administration and Windows Server support for servers hosting SQL databases. It provides specialist SQL database, SQL application and SQL server support and advice as well as underpinning OS support to CITEC's customers, business partners and internal staff.

You will also be required to collaborate with multiple CITEC teams, especially those which manage other layers of the ICT infrastructure stack.
Key Responsibilities: Provide advanced level SQL database administration and OS management services to external and internal customers.Perform incident analysis and complex problem resolution.Undertake advanced database performance analysis of operational client environments, report and recommend appropriate tuning and infrastructure configurations.Maintain an extensive working knowledge of current and emerging SQL database trends.Work collaboratively with your team to manage your workload.Contribute to the setting of standards for database objects.Have a customer-first attitude and contribute to a harmonious and productive team culture.About You: We recognise and celebrate that everyone is unique and seek the applicant best suited to the role. To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
Technical experience in performing system administration activities in an enterprise environment. A high level of knowledge and experience is expected to be achieved in the role and keeping this current and relevant.Demonstrate experience in providing effective and quality systems administration, management, and enhancement services to clients with reliability in meeting agreed deadlines and commitments.Build and sustain positive relationships with team members, other colleagues and stakeholders and being responsive to customer needs and expectations.Partner with Stakeholder Engagement and act as the technical point of contact for customer opportunities.Demonstrate experience operating in accordance with organizational processes and constraints, as well as taking responsibility for accuracy, self-evaluating and seeking feedback and self-development.Communicate with influence by clearly, effectively, and proactively communicating with a range of stakeholders in an environment that deals with complex infrastructure architecture and a complex customer base.Key Skills: Expert knowledge and experience are essential for the below technologies: Installation, maintenance, monitoring, support, health check and performance tuning of SQL Servers, including their underpinning operating systems.Assessment of hardware or Virtualisation requirements for SQL Server loads.SQL Server high availability and replication solutions.Database server backups to meet Recovery Point Objectives (RPO).SQL Server security management.SQL Server monitoring and alerting.Failover cluster management.Development and implementation of database.TSQL and PowerShell scripting.A good sense of humour.On 1 November 2024, the Queensland Government Customer and Digital Group (QGCDG) transitioned from the Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) to the newly established Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business (DCSODSFB) as part of the recent Machinery-of-Government changes. As a result, this position will continue to be part of QGCDG but will no longer be part of DTMR. The conditions and entitlements that apply to the new DCSODSFB are still to be determined and may differ to those advertised.
