The role The Senior Inspector Scientific Officer is appointed as a WorkSafe Inspector in the Human Factors and Ergonomics team and carries out complex and sensitive regulatory and technical activities, primarily in relation to psychosocial related workplace risks.
The position plays a key role in compliance work in relation to psychosocial hazards in the workplace, which include poor leadership and workplace culture, poor policies and procedures, work demands, gendered violence, bullying, suicide and psychosocial hazards that impact workplace health and safety. Additionally, the position represents WorkSafe in state and national stakeholder forums to meet the continuing challenge of improving safety and health in Western Australian workplaces including undertaking complex investigations that can lead to prosecution.

To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments) at the time of application.
How to apply We ask for you to provide a detailed resume outlining your key achievements, work history, education and professional development and covering letter of no more than two (2) pages, addressing the following points:
A Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent qualifications, relevant to the area of specialisation.Demonstrated experience in applying specialist advice in a workplace setting and being able to undertake complex investigations within own area of expertise.Experience in gathering and interpreting data, appraising evidence and evaluating arguments.This role is identified as having a higher likelihood of exposure to potentially traumatic events. This is any distressing experience or situation in which an individual's physical or psychological wellbeing may be threatened. This could involve attending or investigating safety incidents or fatalities, interacting with affected, distressed and/or aggressive people, and exposure to objectionable material such as records containing potentially traumatic content.
The department has specific Potentially Traumatic Event Response Support processes and training available for this role.
