The role: We are seeking expressions of interest for a Senior HSEQ Advisor based in our Newcastle office. This role is ideal for an experienced HSEQ professional with a solid background in civil infrastructure projects.
This diverse role will see you overseeing all aspects of HSEQ including providing specialist advice to our stakeholders including our senior leadership team and project teams. You will be key in educating employees on both industry best practice and legislative compliance requirements.

Your impact: Your contribution to our wider HSEQ team will enable Symal to make zero harm the norm, ensuring our project sites are mitigating risks and providing a safe environment for our own as well as the neighboring environment & stakeholders.
Your every day: Safety Leadership: Promote and foster a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with HSEQ standards and regulations including coaching and mentoring project personnel in HSE matters. Risk Mitigation: Identify and manage risks to ensure project safety and success. Continuous Improvement: Proactively drive initiatives to enhance HSEQ performance and stay ahead of emerging trends. Training and Development: Conduct ongoing HSEQ training sessions to upskill staff and promote best practices including risk assessment workshops, Toolbox talks and Inductions, in addition to identifying training needs for consultants and our supply chain to ensure they are aware of their HSE obligations. Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into HSEQ incidents and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence up to and including Potential Class 1. Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure HSEQ requirements are met, including assisting with the preparation of SWMS and Activity Method Statements to encompass the relevant construction processes, and assisting in the development of HSE standards and processes to ensure our Project(s) complies with client, contractual obligations and regulator governance requirements. Compliance Audits: Monitor and conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to HSEQ policies and governance activities within Project sites. Reporting: Prepare and present detailed HSEQ reports and performance metrics to senior management. Who are you? Proven Track Record: Demonstrated experience in HSEQ roles within the civil infrastructure sector. Experience in ISO and OFSC auditing would be advantageous. Certification: Relevant qualifications and certifications in HSEQ. Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence and inspire others. Analytical Ability: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. Flexibility: Willingness to travel and work on regional projects as required.
