At McNab we don't just build legendary buildings, we build legendary teams. We are a people focused construction business, with a HR team that truly partners with the business to drive high performance results. Due to continued growth, we have a rare opportunity for a Senior HR Business Partner to join our team. This role will be predominately based on our project sites, supporting our blue-collar workforce and will require travel to project sites and offices to support where required.
This is an amazing opportunity as you will get to own the Senior HR Business Partner role in its entirety. You will have the opportunity to work with the leadership team to set the strategic plan for your portfolio, execute it and see the results firsthand. We are a construction company, so you need to be (or be able to get) comfortable on a construction site and be happy to flex to meet the needs of a fast-paced environment.
Your responsibilities will include (but are certainly not limited to):
Help create and foster a high performing workplace culture that attracts and retains talented employees.
Challenge and contribute to business decisions to optimise the workforce.
Partner with managers to meet business requirements around strategy, resourcing, capability, and performance.
Provide advice supporting both employees and leadership teams.
Support leaders with project resource/workforce planning.
Assist in the identification and coordination of training requirements.
Support the delivery of key HR projects and plans in conjunction with the broader HR team.
Build strong and effective working relationships with all levels of the business.
About you
We want someone who is passionate about HR and has the runs on the board to demonstrate that your passion translates into action.
The successful candidate will have:
Strong HR generalist knowledge and experience, coupled with tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, or equivalent.
Ability to work cohesively as part of a large HR team aligning strategies to overall business growth.
Knowledge of relevant Australian employment legislation.
Previous experience working with an Enterprise Agreement.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to successfully build relationships with people at all levels within the organisation.
A high level of accuracy and attention to detail, along with a solution focused mindset.
Be willing to travel to and work from our construction sites on a regular basis. Location of travels spans across South-East QLD.
Previous experience working within construction or blue collar/trade environments is highly desirable.
About McNab: Founded to create the extraordinary.
First established in Toowoomba in 1996, McNab is now one of the largest private construction companies in Queensland. With more than 450 employees based in Southeast Queensland, we have built up an enviable reputation for delivering high-quality, award-winning developments, with 9 out of 10 projects coming from referrals and repeat clients.
The culture at McNab is truly unique. When you put a bunch of people together who are all passionate, energetic, collaborative, and focused on doing the right thing by our customer, subcontractors, and people it makes coming to work an enjoyable experience.
Birthday leave.
Annual health and fitness subsidy.
Parental leave program.
Access to the Employee Assistance Program.
Internal development opportunities through tailored training programs.
This is an outstanding opportunity to build a strong career with a reputable construction company that genuinely cares about the development of all staff - if this is something you want to be a part of submit your application now!
The not-so-ordinary construction company.
At McNab, we believe ordinary industry measures like time, cost and quality should be a given, not a benchmark.
So we go the extra mile to really understand what success looks like for you, and turn-up each day with 100% of our passion, energy and unique smarts to make it happen.
We rarely apply for our own construction awards, instead we support our clients to make incredible return on investments and the accolades that go with a socially and financially successful project.
Industry bodies like UDIA and Property Council of Australia have awarded two projects we've built as the Best Overall Development in Australia in 2015 and Best Overall Development in QLD in 2016. Not bad for a "mid tier" construction company.
Our approach works, with over 80% of our projects sourced from long-term repeat clients and an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars from our clients so far in 2016. These clients are the leading brands and thinkers in their field, clients who demand the not-so-ordinary from their teams as well as from themselves.
What we do.
We're a design, construction and civil team that personally invests and cares about our client's projects. We get called when there's a tricky project in the $3m - $50m range that requires more delivery certainty than you'd get from a typical mid-size contractor, yet more flexibility and price certainty than a large 'Tier One' company.
We work with the leaders in the following sectors:
•Aged Care, Retirement, and Health
•Residential, Student Accommodation, and Hotels
•Retail and Big Box
•Industrial and Agribusiness
•Solar, Gas and Mining
Our 20 year history in 220 words.
McNab was created 20 years ago on the premise that building can be a fun and an exciting experience for both the builder and their client, whilst still offering a competitive price in one of the most competitive industries in Australia.
We do this by finding people in the industry with genuine passion and understanding of clients, combined with smarter design and construction techniques and low overheads.
Our first ever client actually loaned us their ute so that an up-and-coming builder Michael McNab could get to the job. 20 years later we're about to build another of their projects, this time 10 times larger. Our second ever customer was Nippon Meats, and over two decades we've continued to complete over 30 projects both big and small. We could go on but that would take more than 220 words.
There's no one secret ingredient, just a group of not-so-ordinary people with a focus on building incredible projects and long term relationship along the way.
