The Dietitians deliver health services that support the health and well-being of individuals and communities in rural and remote Western Australia. The range of health services provided covers emergency and hospital services, population and community health, Aboriginal health, paediatrics, aged care and telehealth services. P2 Dietitian required for locum with service located in Northern Western Australia. You will join a multidisciplinary allied health team and cover a generalist caseload but with a focus on the child development service and general paediatrics, including dysphagia and enteral feeding.You will:
As a senior member of staff, contribute to the strategic planning, development, implementation and evaluation of an evidence-based, consumer-centered and culturally appropriate dietetic service within the overall health service. Provide and coordinate evidence based dietetic services including assessment, intervention, evaluation and management at a high level of practice to a range of clients in accordance with health service priorities. Deliver health promotion and education to build health literacy and promote self-management. Participate in inter-professional and interagency collaboration for clients, as appropriate. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with multidisciplinary teams, including metropolitan hospitals, and external service providers to implement best practice, patient- centred care. Report verbally and in writing to team members, other health professionals and external organisations where and as required. Promote dietetic services and the profession to clients within the region and to the wider community, including liaising and negotiating provision of appropriate services. Liaise and coordinate with consumers and relevant stakeholders regarding service delivery and development, and act as a dietetic clinical consultant, providing advisory service and education/training as required. Provide clinical supervision, allocate duties, facilitate performance management and mentor assigned dietitians and related staff. Provide consultancy and advice on clinical governance and best practice in dietetics and related issues to medical, nursing, administrative, primary health and other staff as appropriate. Support line manager to manage human, physical and budgetary resources relevant to dietetic services, including coordination of recruitment. Lead and support practice evaluation, risk management and quality improvement initiatives in the region/health service relating to dietetic services and participate in accreditation processes. Liaise with universities, coordinate student placements, and provide appropriate supervision and mentoring for students in clinical practicum.
