An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, passionate and team-oriented Senior Head of Sports Strategy, Programs and Pathways to join the TKS team. This is a full time, non-teaching role as part of the Senior School Leadership Team, commencing Term 1, 2025.
The Senior Head of Sports Strategy, Programs and Pathways is responsible for the ongoing development, participation, performance and evaluation of the schools' Sporting Programs. This includes co-curricular Sport, recreational sport, Eastern Independent Schools Melbourne (EISM) Sporting Association and other Sporting Competitions, the newly created Falcon Elite Performance Program and the extensive program of Sporting Carnivals across the school.
The role will be responsible for the provision of a safe, professional and well-organised sporting program that maximises student participation and places the TKS in a strong position for sporting excellence within the school and local community. Leadership of a team of teaching and non-teaching staff (including sports coaches and consultants) is required, as well as involvement in implementing the on-going strategy and direction of TKS sporting programs, the Sports Department and Elite Performance Programs.
About the role: Lead the development and subsequent implementation of the TKS Strategic Vision for Sport and Fitness; bringing to life the Schools Personalised Programs of Sport and Fitness, the Falcon Elite Performance Program, and working with the School's Executive and Senior Leadership team in aligning department strategies with the School's overall strategic vision;Collaborate with staff, coaches, and assistants to clearly articulate the philosophy and vision of the sporting program, consistent with the vision and mission of the School and that of the EISM;Model the attributes and skills of a proficient sports professional dedicated to reflective practice, maintaining expertise in subject-related content, best practice principles and a commitment to ongoing professional learning;Manage the day-to-day operations of the Sports Department and Elite Performance Programs, coordinating annual sporting carnivals & events, budgeting, effective resource allocation staffing, and schedules;Develop a positive team culture within the Sports department, supporting the development of both individuals and the overall team;Demonstrate a genuine passion for fostering student's physical, social and emotional growth through sport, fitness and general wellbeing in a school environment;Engage with and nurture established TKS partnerships and sporting associations (e.g. EISM) and seek out opportunities to establish potential new partnerships within the community;Oversee the on-going operations, planning, upgrades and maintenance of relevant sporting facilities & equipment within the campus, working closely with the Facilities Team and CFO.About you: You are passionate about education, learning, the growth and development of individual students and care about their wellbeing. Working at The Knox School offers: Personalised Professional Learning Program for staff;4 weeks' annual leave + leave loading & 15 days of personal/carers leave each year;Salary Packaging and Employee Assistance Program;Competitive salary, dependent on skillset and experience;Supportive and stimulating work and learning environment set amongst beautiful grounds;Onsite car parking.The ideal candidate: Holds graduate qualifications in Education and/or Sport-related field;Coaching qualifications (preferably Level 2) in a range of sports;A minimum of 5 years' experience within a relevant field;Has an exceptional standard of personal and professional integrity, demeanour and presentation, which reflects and promotes the ethos of the School and seniority of this position, and the standing of the School in the Independent sector;Has a successful background in a key leadership role, managing a diverse team, within a School or similar environment (e.g. sporting Club or Business);Has a strong background in Sports & Co-Curricular activities, including the creation of Elite Sporting Programs for students from concept to reality;Has knowledge and understanding of the School's obligations in respect of Ministerial Order No. 1359, the Reportable Conduct Scheme, mandatory reporting, record keeping in relation to student safety and wellbeing, the failure to disclose and failure to protect offences (and any other information sharing and reporting obligations that may arise). Training will be provided;Has working knowledge of and is able to adhere to the School's policies and student safety practices, including those detailed in the Student Safety at The Knox School Handbook;Satisfactorily completes a values-based interview which will assess suitability to work with children and young people, and ensure that children and young people's rights are respected;Displays a supportive and respectful attitude to students and their families and builds positive connections with all members of the school community;Holds, or is prepared to obtain, a current Level 2 First Aid Qualification, including CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Training.
