About the opportunity:The team at Flavorite are excited to be seeking a passionate and motivated Senior Grower to join our technical Growing team. In this highly technical growing role, the Senior Grower will find themselves thriving under new challenges where no two days are the same. Reporting directly to the Head Grower, the Senior Grower is responsible for the development, management and implementation of the growing strategies in order to achieve budgeted production levels of our high quality, high-tech glasshouse grown tomato crops.
In addition to the above, the role will complement an experienced people leader who is well versed in coaching and mentoring to aid in team development, as who has an understanding and practical experience applying OHS theory and practices in the workplace.
Key Accountabilities:Develop and manage the implementation of growing strategy to suit each crop and greenhouseInspect and manage crop quality and deal with issues promptly and proactivelyLiase with consultants, technical experts and suppliers to ensure best practiceEstablish weekly nutrient requirements through water analysis and plant observationsManagement of team including recruitment; induction; orientation and training of team membersPerformance management of direct reports ensuring quality and achievement of KPI'sResponsible for employee engagement and developmentManage labour hoursChampion hygiene protocols across the farmManage waste removalManage crop registrationCreate, monitor and manage SWMS, risk assessments and standard operating proceduresAbout you:Possess a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent practical experienceHave demonstratable leadership, coaching and mentoring skillsHave demonstrated technical growing experience in a similar environment and/or industryHave a high attention to detailDemonstrate sound judgmentStrong organisational and time management skillsDemonstrated consultative communication skillsThe ability to build and maintain relationshipsWe recognise the value that a diverse and inclusive culture brings, and actively employ people from various cultural backgrounds, genders, ages and skillsets to ensure our workforce reflects the diversity of society.
