The Opportunity
Reporting to the Governance Lead, the Senior Governance Officer - Policy will support the team to achieve its strategic priorities by providing policy governance and quality assurance over key business policies and guidelines.
Working with key stakeholders will be crucial to ensure a clear understanding and communication of compliance requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and implementation of the policy governance framework and ensuring policies are reviewed and current to ensure we are compliant with our legal obligations and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Design and support the implementation of the policy governance framework.
Ensure new or revised policies and supporting documentation are maintained in alignment with Coal LSL's policy governance framework.
Provide advice through the policy/guideline consultation, design, and implementation phases.
Monitor compliance with the policy governance framework, identifying areas for improvement and supporting implementation of corrective measures.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of the policy library management system.
Identify appropriate ownership and accountability during policy development.
Identify and escalate breaches of key compliance obligations identified during policy development and/or review.
Assist with the coordination of the entity's compliance obligations including external reporting obligations (e.g. Annual/Quarterly Reporting, committee/board papers).
Support the delivery of any other governance initiatives or programs, as required.

The Successful Candidate
The ideal candidate will be confident engaging with stakeholders in a positive and pragmatic way. Having a background in corporate policy is essential, and a keen interest to become a subject matter expert. Additionally, you will have the following:
Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of policy governance frameworks in a government context or complex organisation.
Proven experience in leading best practice governance, including the ability to support areas with drafting policies/guidelines and advise on successful implementation of policies to ensure compliance with our obligations.
Analytical and problem-solving mindset to tackle any issues that arise.
Experience in initiating improvements through innovation and the development of new ideas/approaches to deliver accurate and timely governance services to all stakeholders
Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide advice, deliver reports and briefings to senior leaders within Coal LSL.
Tertiary qualifications in business, law or commerce, or equivalent experience.
