About the RoleThe Senior GIS Specialist is a key and active participant within the Next Generation CAD program (NGC). The goal of the function is to contribute to the provision of the delivery of all end-to-end GIS functions for the Program. These include the GIS Enterprise Software, GIS data management, mapping, and geocoding activities for the Program.
Reporting to the Director, Technical Delivery, specific accountabilities will include the establishment of a new highly resilient and highly available GIS solution and integration of the solution with the NGC mapping solution. In addition, the position will be responsible for driving delivery via a GIS vendor. The Senior GIS Specialist will be accountable for the delivery of the architecture, and the hardware and software solution. Lastly, the role will include working with the existing Geospatial team in the business to design and build the mapping, geocoding, and routing services.
The purpose of the role is to embed a new Geospatial service for the organisation through architecture design, and the build of a mapping solution that will be consumed by the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. The CAD System is used in the verification, routing and dispatch process used by call takers and dispatchers for the location of a caller.
As part of the Next Generation CAD Program, the role will require engagement with GIS vendors, the GIS team, a CAD System Integrator, and a CAD System Vendor.
Day to Day ResponsibilitiesEstablishment of a greenfield Geospatial platform to provide mapping, geocoding, and routing services to TZV's new Computer Aided Dispatch system (CAD).Developing the architecture for a highly resilient and highly responsive Geospatial service.Engage with technology teams in the organisation to build and configure the Geospatial platform to the approved architecture, including the enterprise GIS Software, and any supporting components (servers, APIs, databases).Lead and direct any vendors to ensure they are designing and building to the appropriate standards suitable for the highly resilient and highly responsive Geospatial services.Identify the requirements for a Mapping, Geocoding, and Routing service to meet the high resilience and high responsiveness targets.About YouAs the Senior GIS Specialist, you will ideally have experience in geospatial technology and geospatial data management as well as a Diploma or Tertiary qualification in Geospatial Info Tech or Computer Science.
Extensive experience in the architectural design and build of Geospatial solutions within the ESRI platform.Demonstrable experience in the build and configuration of the ESRI platform specifically ESRI Enterprise.Experience in GIS Mapping services specifically the development of tiling schemes for highly responsive environments.Understanding of the implementation of APIs for GIS including Geocoding / Reverse Geocoding, and routing.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders.What We Can Offer YouYou will be supporting a critical service to the Victorian community and will be rewarded with a competitive salary, flexible working arrangements and employee benefits including:
