Our Mungari Gold Operations are a cornerstone asset located 28km west of from central Kalgoorlie, Western Australia (WA) and 600km east of Perth. Mungari has a predominantly residential workforce, with many living in Kalgoorlie Boulder, giving employees the luxury of coming home every day. Earlier this year we announced our expansion project, a $250m investment to expand our processing mill. This investment will extend Mungari's mine life to 15 years and double annual production to over 200,000 ounces per year post commissioning.
About the Role: Reporting to the Superintendent Geotechnical, the Senior Geotechnical Engineer manages risks and proactively identifies geotechnical hazards associated with the mining operations of Mungari. Some of the key responsibilities are:
Ensuring compliance with the relevant mining act and regulations with respect to managing geotechnical risk and updating the GCMP. Overseeing the daily operations, designing, implementing, and reviewing quality control / quality assurance specifications. Facilitating all internal and external geotechnical audits and inspections. About You: To succeed in this role, you will be an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer, skilled in working with people, relating, and networking along with having an ability to persuade and influence whilst adhering to our principles and values. Ideally you will have experience working in large underground environments with a track record in delivering results and meeting customer expectations. Within the role, you will be integral to the success of the Underground and Open Pit Mine and will be excited to build effective management systems to ensure we achieve our goals. It is expected you will have extensive relevant industry experience supported with an appropriate Tertiary qualification.
To succeed in the role, you will have: Tertiary qualifications in Mining / Geoscience / Civil Engineering with major in Geomechanics or equivalent. Extensive experience in the geotechnical aspects of open pit mining and underground hard rock mines. Good working knowledge all legislative and regulatory requirements. Experience monitoring and managing geotechnical hazards in both the inactive open pit and the underground operations. Strong abilities to record, interrogate and report on monitoring data within the seismic monitoring systems. An understanding of the mine planning process from long term to short term. Ability to analyse and interpret geotechnical and monitoring data. Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate with a broad range of teams. Excellent relationship building skills and can influence people of all backgrounds. Adaptable with flexibility to operate in a dynamic work environment. Risk management experience is essential. Familiarity with mine design software, especially Deswik CAD Software skills preferably within Map 3D, Rocscience programs, Unwedge, Mine Planning Software (Vulcan/Surpac), Microsoft Office.
