The Geophysical Acquisition and Processing Section acquires precompetitive geophysical data in support of the responsible development of a diverse resources sector in Australia. Our data, products and information support exploration for groundwater, minerals and energy and is integral to work within the Minerals, Energy and Groundwater Division such as precompetitive mineral potential assessments, critical minerals studies, and regional drilling programs.
The work of the Geophysical Acquisition and Processing Section will be integral to the Resourcing Australia's Prospectivity initiative, a recently announced, multi-decadal investment in pre-competitive geoscience by the Commonwealth Government. Resourcing Australia's Prosperity will, over 35 years, at a national scale and through deep dives, progressively map Australia's highly prospective regions, critical minerals, groundwater and resources needed for the transition to net zero.
The role The Senior Geophysicist - Gravity will play a technical leadership role in the delivery of precompetitive gravity (ground and airborne) data and information, as well as support the modernisation of the Australian Fundamental Gravity Network. These activities support Geoscience Australia's Resourcing Australia's Prosperity initiative to increase resource discovery and development and industrial capacity for critical minerals, positioning government and industry to meet national challenges today and in the future.
