About the role:
In this role you will:
Provide technical assessment and advice on mining, exploration and development tenures within agreed timeframes and in accordance with legislation, policy and Departmental work procedures for the commodity hubs.Facilitate the timely progression of mining, exploration and development tenures by liaison and negotiation with tenure holders, industry and Government agencies where required.Provide effective technical support, advice and effective links within the commodity hubs.Undertake individual workload forecasting and performance assessment including peer reviews of technical assessment team tasks where required.Prepare and present high quality advice, briefings, correspondence, reports and submissions concerning technical and operational matters relating to the mining, exploration and development of Queensland's mineral and coal resources for a range of clients including the Minister and Executive Management.Prepare advice for protection of significant mineral or coal resources to facilitate the implementation of protection by State agencies and local government as required.Provide timely technical support and advice to Director, Mining Registrars and other commodity hub team members on policy as required, including advice on the operation of the Mineral Resources Act 1989.Identify potential resource areas for future land releases and provide advice on the resources contained within the areas to a suitable standard for inclusion in tender documentation.Undertake research and identification of regionally significant mineral or coal resources throughout the State, assess the need for their protection, and assess the implications for ongoing access to such resources resulting from decisions by Federal, State or local government agencies as required.Contribute to the formulation and revision of legislation, Departmental policies, practices, procedures and strategies or reports to promote improved opportunities for responsible mineral and coal mining, exploration and development or tenure management in Queensland.Support and represent the Department as required by contributing to seminars, workshops, education initiatives, appropriate conferences and other industry forums.Represent the Department as required in meetings with other State Government departments, industry, stakeholders, the public, and Federal Government departments.Other duties as directed and required.Why join us?
