The Senior Full Stack Data & AI Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the company's data infrastructure and pipelines to support our data-driven initiatives. The role works with Data Scientists at Helia to develop and implement GenAI applications. Working in an AGILE, collaborative, cross-functional team, they will ensure efficient data processing, storage, and support analysis, while supporting the efforts of the centralised data governance team. Responsibilities Participate in Agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives) to collaborate with the squad in defining and delivering data requirements. Design and implement scalable and efficient data integrations and pipelines to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources into various destinations. Write high-quality, maintainable, and optimised code to automate data processing tasks, build custom data transformations, and develop data quality checks. Develop AI systems integrating AWS Bedrock hosted LLMs and/or Azure OpenAI APIs into the system. Knowledge of Antrophic tools/function calling to support structured data extraction and/or structured API calls. Participate and contribute to the architecture of the Service Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery/Deployment (CI/CD). Maintain and optimize data models, including tables, views, and materialized views, to ensure efficient data access and querying. Implement ETL/ELT workflows, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness using cloud suitable tools. Develop custom reports and visualizations to meet the reporting needs of the squad and the wider organization. Collaborate with data consumers to understand their reporting requirements and translate them into effective data visualizations. Coordinate with the centralized data governance team to ensure alignment with data policies, standards, and best practices. Contribute to the development and enhancement of our Agile data engineering practices and standards. Contribute to our data cloud resilience and data cyber security. Provide knowledge transfer and training to others to aid team cross-skilling in our various toolsets and practices. Learn from others and be willing to develop into a T-shaped employee. Stay up-to-date in their core skill area with the latest data trends, technologies, best practices, and recommend improvements to our data landscape. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 10+ years' experience as a full stack data engineer or in a similar data-centric role, preferably in an Agile environment. 1-2 years experience of Data Science and/or AI Engineering. Hands-on experience with cloud data warehousing technologies, particularly Snowflake. Snowflake certifications highly regarded. Hands-on experience with cloud relational databases such as Amazon RDS, Oracle, MySQL, or MS Azure. Awareness of GraphDBs. Well versed in DevOps methodology including CI/CD with tools such as Terraform, Bitbucket and Jenkins. Strong with ELT/ETL tools for building and managing data integration pipelines, such as Coalesce, DBT, or AWS Glue, and where appropriate, Python. Strong SQL skills and experience with data modeling and optimization using tools such as ERWIN or ER/Studio. Experience with PowerBI desktop and MS Fabric. Understanding of data engineering best practices, including data quality and performance optimisation. Experience working with ensuring data reliability and trustworthiness. Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, Agile environment. Experience with data cloud resilience and data cyber security. Experience or qualifications in AWS very highly regarded. Experience with low-code task automation tools such as Workato well regarded.
