About the opportunity With a state-wide charter, the Serious Offences Unit (SOU) supports complex investigations utilising specialist investigative methodologies and technologies to maximise the effective and efficient delivery of compliance services across our Animal Welfare, Biosecurity and Fisheries portfolios.
As a Senior Fisheries and Marine Officer (Investigator) within the SOU, you will primarily be participating in covert activities to support our fisheries operations. You will have the opportunity to utilise advanced surveillance technology and use contemporary covert investigative techniques to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of our operations. Additionally, you will be called upon to take on the role of a covert (undercover) operative when necessary.
The minimum marine qualification for this position is a Department of Transport Recreational Skippers Ticket (RST) or equivalent. Holders of a commercial maritime qualification (Coxswain grade 1 or 2 near coastal) will be highly regarded.
We are on the lookout for enthusiastic compliance officers who will thrive in a close-knit but diverse team, and have experience or transferrable skills in one or more of the following fields:
