"Scientists investigate that which already is; engineers create that which has never been." - Albert Einstein
And that's the crux of this role: create something entirely new in the Wi-Fi category.
You'd create tech that is a game changer for IoT devices operating on coin batteries in remote locations. Imagine 16km range with ultra low power.
And you'd help bring this novel wireless, fabless Wi-Fi technology to market with the team that invented Wi-Fi over 20 years ago.
You'll go on a journey, diving deeper into RTOS than ever before alongside a team of experienced engineers, unlocking new lessons in power management and performance optimisation.
Alongside Analog, Systems, and Digital IC Design Engineers, you'll develop an in-depth understanding of multi-core SoC, Wi-Fi standards, its 11ah variant, IoT applications, and networking stacks in a newly created role.
You'll get a competitive salary, stock options, work from brand new offices a short walk from Central Station with unrivalled city views, coffee expenses covered, and regular team events like karaoke nights, running clubs, and tape-out parties.
You'd also benefit from a two-week 'work from anywhere' policy. Maldives? The Antarctic? Scunthorpe? You could visit any of these locations without eating into your annual leave allowance.
The work you'll be doing
You'll join a firmware team implementing the IEEE 802.11ah standard on state-of-the-art RISC-V multi-core chip architecture.
You'll be doing it in a low-regulation, high-potential market as part of a business that's founded and run by engineers who understand what you need to do your job properly.
There's a healthy R&D budget, the overall team is still less than 200 people so everyone knows your name and there's still a real buzz around the office.
What you'll need BSc in Electrical, Electronics, Communication Engineering, or Computer ScienceAt least 5 years in Firmware development using the C programming languageExperience using Real-Time Operating Systems, ideally FreeRTOS but open to ThreadX, Zephyr, and alike.Experience with wireless connectivity protocols - WiFi, BLE, LoRa, Bluetooth, etc.If that's you, you can look forward to working alongside some pretty smart people who genuinely enjoy what they do. They take pride in their work. They work hard (for eight hours a day, 4 days a week in office, one day from home). They have fun.
