QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.
About the role
You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by providing expert fire services engineering advice and consultancy to QBuild, external clients, and authorities, whilst ensuring statutory requirements are met.
Duties and skills involved: Deliver high-level fire services engineering services to QBuild's clients.Act as a fire services engineering practitioner and mentor within the business unit.Provide expert advice and consultancy to QBuild, external clients, and authorities on fire services engineering.Lead, plan, and manage project design, documentation, and contract administration, ensuring compliance with statutory and quality standards.Oversee engagement of external consultants for capital works projects, including preparing terms of reference and offering high-level advice.Ensure project viability and uphold high standards in fire services design, promoting innovative, sustainable solutions, and reviewing alternative fire engineering solutions.Preferred skills and experience/Additional requirements: Bachelor of Engineering degree or equivalent required.Must be registered to practice as a fire services Registered Professional Engineer (RPEQ) with the Board of Professional Engineers Queensland or have the ability to obtain RPEQ registration in the relevant discipline within 6 months of starting.Overseas qualifications must be assessed by the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition to be equivalent to an Australian degree.All applicants must be eligible to work in Australia.
