About the Role:
As Senior Financial Controller and Project Accountant, you will oversee TYB's Financial Management and Cost Accounting Systems with a focus on optimizing cost management.
The role's responsibility is to provide leadership and oversight to all aspects of systems for capturing, recording, and managing the revenue and costs for the organization with a view to align with strategic outcomes to maximize profitability and efficiency.
The role will play a key leadership role in managing all accounting and costing roles and finding and managing new efficiencies and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost & Project Accounting: Manage cost accounting and project financials as well as all business financial outcomes including control, revenue management, and reporting for all projects and revenue streams.
Reporting & Compliance: Deliver accurate monthly management accounts, ensure regulatory compliance, and oversee audits.
Deliver weekly activity reports and costing summaries.
Oversee various accounting roles and develop and manage team KPIs.
Deliver quarterly financial accounts and report on all budget variances.
Manage and keep updated asset registers and depreciation schedules and manage the finance leases on equipment and infrastructure.
Oversight and Improvements: Implement more streamlined accounting and reporting systems that better manage the flow of information throughout the organization.
Oversee the implementation of new Advance Platform Construction MYOB system.
Manage all sales and accounting contracts and policies and provide valuable insight and direction on risk and compliance.
Ensure all processes, including back-to-back agreements and QHSE strategies and processes are followed for managing liability and risk on all projects and activities.
Budgeting & Strategic Planning: Develop budgets, forecasts, and long-term plans, identifying opportunities for optimization and savings.
Team Leadership: Mentor the finance team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with senior leaders to enhance project outcomes through financial insights.
What You'll Bring:
Qualifications: Bachelor's in accounting or finance; CPA or CA preferred.
Experience: 10+ years in financial and cost accounting management in construction, marine, or heavy industries.
Technical Skills: Expertise in cost accounting, financial reporting, and compliance, plus proficiency in MS Office and MYOB (or similar software).
Leadership & Strategic Thinking: Strong communication, presentation, and leadership skills, with a talent for building trust with executives.
