The Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) of NSW is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Financial Analyst to join the Biodiversity Conservation Trust's Finance team .

This role works as part of a team supporting the delivery of budgeting, financial management, fund and investment management, and leading the delivery of financial reporting for internal stakeholders at the Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT).

What does the role look like

Maintain an appropriate financial system and related internal controls to ensure the proper and timely recording of the BCT's income, expenditure, assets and liabilities. This includes reviewing accounting journals, general ledger reconciliations, and payments.
Ensure General Ledger is updated with daily accounting transactions and monitor accounting controls that ensure compliance with legislation.
Implement processes to maintain the financial integrity of the General Ledger to accurately reflect the financial position of the BCT.
Ensure monthly financial accounts are produced in an accurate and timely manner to meet month end reporting timetables.
Provide support to the Manager in budgeting, financial management, financial reporting, fund and investment management, and delivering financing services.
Provide financial analysis and deliver financial accounting, cash management, budgeting, finance reporting and related financial management services.
Provide other required analytical support services to respond to client requests and support business case development and decision making.
Research and resolve enquiries and issues and provide recommendations for resolution, including innovative ideas to improve process and internal control efficiency and performance.

The successful applicant will have:

Experience in a similar role and operating environment
Proven accounting and financial analysis capability including advanced MS Excel skills.
Excellent stakeholder management, communication and problem-solving skills, and able to work well within a team
Experience and proficiency in maintaining accounting records in SAP
Demonstrated experience in finance reporting, budgeting and finance business partnering
Highly favoured: Interest in conservation and the environment

Essential requirements:

Relevant tertiary qualification and full membership of a recognised professional accounting body such as CPA Australia or Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
