The Senior Technical Accountant is a senior role within the Financial Reporting and Accounting Policy team and is responsible for providing technical advice on Group accounting topics and for ensuring accurate and timely statutory reporting for the Group and its subsidiaries. You will play a key role in the design, development, and communication of the Group's accounting policies to ensure compliance with all relevant requirements.
You will be supported by a team of Financial and Assistant Financial Accountants, working in a matrix structure, so strong leadership and team collaboration skills will be required. This role will be primarily involved in a reporting and advisory capacity so will require the ability to present financial information to senior management and external stakeholders together with a continuous improvement mindset to enhance the end-to-end reporting process.
key Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Partner with the Group's business divisions to provide technical accounting advice to support commercial outcomes in relation to strategic initiatives and transactionsProvide technical advice and thought leadership to Group Finance on topics relating to Group accounting matters and policiesInfluence the Group's external auditor to obtain technical clearance on technical accounting mattersDesign and implement up-to-date accounting policies, providing the necessary training to finance business partners and business divisionsManage and implement changes to accounting standards and IFRIC decisionsLead delivery of the Group's standalone subsidiary statutory reporting providing direction to a team of Financial Accountants responsible for preparation of the individual financial statementsManage the delivery of the Group's Consolidated half-year and annual statutory reportingEnsure completeness and accuracy of financial statement disclosuresAnalyse and implement improvements to the Group's legal entity structureAbout you Key skills and experience that we will be looking for in the successful candidate will include:
CA/CPA qualified (or international equivalent) with 7+ years post qualification experienceDemonstrated experience in producing and reviewing financial statementsDemonstrated experience in interpreting and applying accounting standardsStrong stakeholder engagement capabilities across all levelsDemonstrated ability to communicate with influenceExperience operating and delivering results in a matrix environment and leveraging relationships to influence and drive outcomeBusiness and commercial acumen, credibility, reputation and proven track record of successCurious mindset with a view to implement continuous improvementAbout Us Bank of Queensland Group is a truly unique group of challenger brands with a purpose – to provide a genuine alternative to Australian financial services for customers and employees.
