This role is a permanent and full-time role and will be based out of our Norwest Office in Sydney.
This is an onsite role with no hybrid working system.
Purpose of the role:
The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for overseeing and managing the financial accounting activities for both Abbey and Pharmavet.
This role ensures the integrity of financial records, compliance with statutory requirements, and the delivery of accurate financial reporting.
The position is also integral to supporting strategic business activities like managing budgets, forecasts, and cash flows while providing actionable insights through financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management and Reporting
Oversee and manage all accounting activities for Abbey group of companies including Pharmavet.
Manage Chart of Accounts, Debtors, and Creditors Masters
Prepare and review financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Present and review monthly financial reports and prepare sales reporting analyses (monthly and ad hoc).
Record journal entries, accruals, and prepayments.
Oversee inventory adjustments and stocktake.
Generate PO for CAPEX
Payroll and Payments
Liaise with HR to process fortnightly and monthly payroll
Work closely with our third-party payroll service provider to share payroll inputs and finalize payroll.
Manage forex and local payments for both businesses.
Responsible for reporting and invoice payments for Pharmavet.
Compliance and Regulatory
Coordinate with the external auditor and tax accountant for year-end audit and reconciliations.
Complete yearly workers' compensation annual declarations.
Oversee Sales employees Logbook submissions and approve them as required.
Coordinate with the external tax accountant for all tax related matters.
(BAS and FBT lodgements)
Manage depreciation schedules and fixed asset registers for both businesses.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations and company policies.
Budgeting and Forecasting
Manage cash flows for Abbey and Pharmavet, ensuring adequate liquidity.
Prepare and monitor budgets and sales forecasts.
Insurance Management
Coordinate with insurance advisor for annual business and motor insurance renewals.
IT Third party
Act as the primary point of contact for third-party IT service providers.
Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
CPA or CA qualification required
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in financial accounting roles with BAS Experience.
Proven experience managing end-to-end accounting processes and financial reporting.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to learn quickly and be proactive.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
