Job Title: Senior Financial AccountantEmployer: DFP Recruitment clientPosition Type: 6 month Casual Temporary Contract (Potential for extension)Pay Rate: CompetitiveLocation: Midland, WA 6056Role Overview: As a Senior Financial Accountant you undertake a range of financial accounting and reporting activities that contribute to planning, forecasting and managing the client's budget in line with the agency's strategic direction and relevant compliance and regulatory requirements.Key Responsibilities:Coordinates and contributes to the process of monitoring financial performance of the business against allocated expenditure, revenue and Asset Investment Program payment budgets.Contributes to the preparation, compilation, and administration of the client's internal corporate and externally focussed financial and performance reports to varying recipient stakeholders, including financial statements and notes for the annual report, management reporting to the Board, Corporate Executive, Operations Committee, other Internal reports as required, and the provision of information to other stakeholders as required.Oversees the preparation of actual Whole of Government information required on a quarterly basis for entry into the Treasury Strategic Information Management System.Undertakes determination of Weighted Average Cost of Capital, reviews Investment policy documents, prepares relevant internal submissions for approval and consults with WATC our investment manager.Oversees the WATC Investment Portfolio and makes recommendations of new investments to the Senior Manager, Financial Compliance and Reporting.Oversees the assessment of specialised financial policy over particular issues against the Financial Management Act, Treasurer's Instructions, Australian Accounting standards and tax legislation and guidelines.Recommends amendments to the Financial Management Manual and other finance branch internal or the clients policies and manages their update.Manages the client's Chart of Accounts, and system application functions (as principal user) of the Financial Accounting System.Works collaboratively with others to achieve and report on financial objectives and targets, including the reasons for variations to budget.Assumes responsibility for specific projects within the section as required.Oversees the management and reconciliation of revenue streams including the LSWA reconciliations, adjustments, and payments.Completes taxation obligations, including returns, acceptance, and assessment of advice the cash flow of taxation payments in line with required standards.Oversees and coordinates the production, collation, and provision of financial information, evaluating the validity of information, its compliance, appropriateness, and timeliness.Maintains positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including Office of the Auditor General and WATC, and Department of Treasury for the purposes of providing Quarterly reporting of actual financial outcomes.Undertakes financial analyses applying financial modelling processes and principles used to derive forecast information.Contributes to team business plans and ensures their own compliance with training and performance management requirements.Works within and maintains an understanding of corporate and business unit policies and procedures.Acts with integrity at all times and demonstrates behaviours aligned with the client's code of conduct and which build desired culture.Essential to be successful in this role;A tertiary qualification in accounting, finance or a related field and/or membership of an appropriate professional accounting body (including CA/CPA or equivalent).Substantial experience in financial reporting, including annual reporting, accounting policy and managing reporting processes within a modern financial reporting environment and financial system.Strong financial analysis, modelling and problem solving skills.Experience interpreting, maintaining, managing, and communicating accounting and financial policy, explaining accounting standards and their financial impacts.Current valid NPC or able to obtain oneHow to apply: If you are interested in this opportunity, please submit your resume outlining your relevant experience and to highlight why you are suitable for this role.
