We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Accountant to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial and management accounting, taxation, and reporting obligations of the company.
The position focuses specifically on ensuring the daily finance functions and the month end financial statement preparation is performed efficiently and accurately, along with the preparation of annual statutory financial statements, tax return preparation, management information, and ad hoc project management.
This position is Hybrid and can be worked remotely with regular travel to Mount Isa.
Responsibilities: Review month-end general ledger journals and balance sheet reconciliations.Assist with the preparation of management reporting pack for the business.Assist with the preparation of the annual budget for the business, including the budget for each program.Ensure maintenance of fixed assets register.Preparation of any ad-hoc reporting as required.Development of financial forecasts, providing financial data analysis to provide insights to for the CFO.Support the CFO by providing revenue recognition analysis and leasing standard compliance.Development, implementation and maintenance of financial policies, procedures and controls.Assist the CFO with identifying areas of financial risk and develop strategies to mitigate them.Manage relationships with banks, auditors and other external stakeholders.Stay up to date with financial regulations, accounting standards and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.Contracts Management: Responsible for the management of all Financial related compliance matters contained in funding agreements.Responsible for preparing Financial Acquittals for each of the Grant Funded Programs.Ensure grants are managed in the general ledger system in accordance with the revenue recognition standard IFRS15.Responsible for all grant reconciliations and for calculating unspent grant amounts.Statutory Reporting: Review monthly and quarterly Business Activity Statements for lodgment with the ATO.Review payroll tax returns, Workcover declarations as needed.Preparation of the Fringe Benefits Tax Return.Assist with the preparation of the annual financial statements including comprehensive year end working papers.Leadership: Provide coaching and mentoring to all direct reports.Set goals for team members and measure against performance.Lead the training and upskilling for the finance team.Qualifications and Experience: Proven work experience as a Finance ManagerBachelor's degree in accounting or financeCPA certification preferredExperience preparing and submitting funding grant applications preferred5+ years of experience in accounting or financeThorough knowledge of accounting principles and proceduresExcellent accounting software user and administration skillPractical Requirements: Current Blue Card (Working with Children and young people) or willingness to apply for a Blue Card.Willingness to work flexible hours as required, including the requirement to travel, work and stay overnight for up to several days at a time in remote areas.Willingness to travel by road and small planes. #J-18808-Ljbffr
