Job Description Key Responsibilities:
Assist with Audit Investigations: Support the organisation in an audit investigation by reviewing and analysing financial data, identifying discrepancies, and working closely with auditors to ensure accuracy.Financial Reporting: Prepare and review detailed financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and organisational policies.Data Reconciliation: Conduct thorough reconciliations of accounts, including revenue, expenses, and grant funding, ensuring all records are accurate and complete.Risk Assessment: Identify areas of potential financial risk or non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.Internal Controls: Evaluate and enhance internal controls, ensuring they are robust and in line with the audit findings.Compliance and Regulations: Ensure adherence to relevant tax laws, financial regulations, and the unique reporting requirements for not-for-profit organisations in Australia.Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records and support the audit process by providing documentation and explanations as required.The Successful Applicant Skills and Experience:
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA or CA qualification is essential.Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in financial accounting, with a strong background in audit support or investigations.
Previous experience in the not-for-profit sector is highly desirable.Audit Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of audit processes, financial compliance, and Australian accounting standards.Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities with a keen eye for detail, capable of identifying financial discrepancies and irregularities.Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing solutions.Technical Skills: Proficient in accounting software.
