About Our Client A dedicated not-for-profit organisation seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join the team and support their mission by ensuring the accuracy of financial operations.
Job Description Key Responsibilities:
Assist with Audit Investigations : Support the organisation in an audit investigation by reviewing and analysing financial data, identifying discrepancies, and working closely with auditors to ensure accuracy. Financial Reporting : Prepare and review detailed financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and organisational policies. Data Reconciliation : Conduct thorough reconciliations of accounts, including revenue, expenses, and grant funding, ensuring all records are accurate and complete. Risk Assessment : Identify areas of potential financial risk or non-compliance and recommend corrective actions. Internal Controls : Evaluate and enhance internal controls, ensuring they are robust and in line with the audit findings. Compliance and Regulations : Ensure adherence to relevant tax laws, financial regulations, and the unique reporting requirements for not-for-profit organisations in Australia. Documentation and Reporting : Maintain detailed records and support the audit process by providing documentation and explanations as required. The Successful Applicant Skills and Experience:
Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CA qualification is essential. Experience : Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in financial accounting, with a strong background in audit support or investigations. Previous experience in the not-for-profit sector is highly desirable. Audit Knowledge : Comprehensive understanding of audit processes, financial compliance, and Australian accounting standards. Analytical Skills : Strong analytical abilities with a keen eye for detail, capable of identifying financial discrepancies and irregularities. Problem-Solving : Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing solutions. Technical Skills : Proficient in accounting software.
