As the governing body for Golf in Australia, our key responsibilities are to encourage participation across the sport whilst supporting the health of all places to play around the country. Working alongside key industry partners such as the PGA of Australia and the WPGA Tour, Golf Australia helps provide player pathways through the events at club and state level, through to the Australian Open. In addition, we support the high-performance program developing talent through to the professional stage.
About the Role: As a Senior Financial Accountant, the role will be required to ensure the timely and accurate recording, reconciliation and reporting of financial transactions, drive process improvement, and contribute to a high performing finance team.
Primarily reporting to the financial controller, the Senior Financial Accountant (Golf Australia) will have full accountability for the end to end transaction processing for Golf Australia and its State member organisations and associated businesses.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Ensure accurate recognition of revenue including: member affiliation revenue including the reconciliation of deferred revenue balances; commercial partnership revenue including invoices raised according to schedules and partnering with commercial team to manage collections; grant funding revenue including invoices raised according to schedules, reconciliation of deferred revenue and partnering with departments; Ensure accuracy of grant acquittals based on a detailed understanding of grant terms and agreements; Reviewing fortnightly and monthly payroll and ensuring employment costs are accurately recorded and statutory obligations met; Preparing and presenting the draft statement of financial performance, statement of financial position and cash flow statement to the Financial Controller for review and finalisation; Systems oversight – maintenance and oversee Access, ProSpend, Flexipurchase and Corporate Traveller processes and transactions; Compliance – review, ensure timely lodgement and compliance with all statutory taxation matters including FBT, BAS/GST, Withholding taxes and ATO account management. Other elements of the role include: Providing day to day leadership and coaching of the Accountant and Accounts Officer; Assisting the Financial Controller with the annual insurance renewal; Assisting the Financial Controller with audit requirements; Supporting transactional banking activities including user management and basic treasury functions; Perform additional transactional and accounting duties as required. KPI's: Financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely; Balance sheet reconciliations are completed monthly; Identification and execution of process improvements. Key Requirements: Degree in Accounting/Finance with minimum CA/CPA or equivalent, with proven solid experience in a similar role/team; Demonstrated ability to proactively build relationships with key stakeholders and colleagues; Experience with AP, AR and GL systems; Intermediate to advanced Excel skill level; Detail-oriented, well organised and understand the importance of data integrity; Self-initiated and willingness to learn and grow; Highly accountable and outcome focused, with an ability to work collaboratively in a team. What we are looking for: The ideal candidate will have well demonstrated experience in a Senior Financial Accountant role or similar. They will possess an excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
