Among the very best finance teams in Government, this high-performing team is seeking an experienced financial accountant to lead its reporting function for a 6 month term.The reporting standards and approach of this Government Business Enterprise more closely resembles an ASX-listed entity, so those with experience in larger commercial organisations will be well placed to thrive here.With this in mind experience within the APS, whilst helpful, is not essential.What is required is technical excellence, initiative, and a desire to constantly improve the quality of the reporting you will be responsible for.For those most at home in high-performance environments, this is the team for you.Whilst the position is initially being offered for a period of around 6 months (mat leave cover) there is a chance that the role will be extended.If you've been looking to break into the APS but keep finding everyone already wants APS experience, or if you are already in the APS and want to be in a more performance-oriented environment, then this may be the role for you.This role is responsible for the day-to-day financial accounting operations of the organisation and assisting with the delivery of monthly and annual financial reports and statements.Key accountabilities for the role include:Assisting with the preparation of corporate financial statements and liaising with the auditors in accordance with the year-end plan and auditors requirements;Timely and accurately assist with preparation of the year-end accounts, including the interpretation of accounting standards, fixed asset valuation/impairment testing and revenue recognition.Management of the financial accounting month-end close process, ensuring all deadlines are met with a high level of accuracy;Reviewing the trial balance on a monthly basis prior to report finalisation and ensuring any identified review points are investigated and resolved;Prepare and input monthly and annual financial data into Department of Finance's CBMS system;Researching areas of accounting judgment in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and other relevant reporting requirements as required; andCollaborate closely with financial accountant by providing support and knowledge sharing to effectively manage workload and deadlines.Salary package circa $130,000 (if you're highly suitable but looking for a little more remuneration let us know and we'll see what we can do).For further information, please feel welcome to call Andrew Doyle - Principal on 0421 222 421 at any time.Note: Applicants must be permanent residents of Australia to be considered for this opportunity.Candidate Testimonial:"I have found you to take the utmost personal care in the service to find the best fit for client and candidate.
