About the role This role will work closely with the Finance Manager to support and provide peer leadership to junior team members across the financial control function.
To support key General Ledger Accounting functions to provide high quality, relevant, accurate and timely financial information to key stakeholders across the finance team and provide competent financial analysis whilst complying with organisational policies and procedures and legislative requirements.
A Senior Financial Accountant will lead in establishing and maintaining a strong internal control system, whilst also ensuring compliance with all relevant Accounting, Legislative and Department of Health obligations.
The role will contribute to the implementation of ongoing change and reform programs to improve financial management and reporting systems.
Key Accountabilities General ledger accounting, month-end close, and reconciliations.
Perform analysis and commentary to support compliance and organisation decision-making.
External and internal financial reporting; including Department of Health, Commonwealth, and Board of Directors.
Assist with annual financial statements and audit process.
Peer leadership to junior team members across the financial control function.
Proactively supporting other team members by providing backup on tasks.
Perform ad-hoc tasks as directed by senior staff members to achieve team and organisational objectives.
Key Selection Criteria Professional accounting qualification (CA/CPA).
Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar financial accounting role.
Sound financial accounting experience with practical working knowledge of IFRS, Financial Reporting Directions and tax compliance.
Experience in the use of ERP system along with advanced knowledge of MSOffice software packages, with a particular focus on Excel.
Prior exposure to FBT and GST.
Completion of month-end requirements within prescribed timeframes.
Preparation and lodgement of tax within required timeframes.
