About the role We're seeking a Senior Finance Analyst – Data and Reporting to support Transurban's Finance, Investor and Corporate Services by providing data analytics, visualisations, reporting, and insights.
This role is crucial for supporting business decision-making and improving analysis and reporting capabilities across the organisation.

Day-to-day, you will: Play a key role in supporting the Manager, Traffic, Revenue and Data Analytics in leading the data analytic function for Transurban Finance.Challenge existing processes and continually assess systems and processes for simplification and optimisation through stakeholder engagement.Lead automation and self-service reporting initiatives to enhance analytical support, streamline processes, and empower stakeholders with real-time data access.Create and maintain process and procedures documentation.Perform data analysis and trend identification to provide insights into revenue and cost improvements.Support the introduction of data analytics for revenue and cost improvements.Create data models and trends to help the business understand their revenue and cost drivers.Support business initiatives through data analysis, such as before/after comparisons.Seek feedback and evaluate improvement opportunities in the provision of data analytics.Analyse, interpret, and communicate the results of data analysis activities.Generate insights and recommendations from the analysis, proactively identifying opportunities for business growth and operational improvements.Use storytelling and compelling visualisation techniques to convey insights in a manner that is easily understood by finance and business stakeholders.Be considered an expert of Finance Data within the organisation.Provide advice and guidance to others in relation to the correct use of data.This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including: Tertiary qualifications in a relevant technical field.Proven experience in solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches.Proven experience in manipulating and analysing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources.A strong passion for empirical research and for answering hard questions with data.A flexible analytic approach that allows for results at varying levels of precision.Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner.Ability to bridge communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.Proven experience with high-volume relational databases and SQL.Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication and presentation skills.Stakeholder management experience, ideally working across all levels of leadership.Ability to communicate complex findings and ideas in plain language.Experience using data science, visualisation, and ETL tools such as Tableau, R Studio, Snowflake, SSIS or equivalents is an advantage.Knowledge of statistics and the safe interpretation of data – including concepts like bias, statistical reliability, and extrapolation is an advantage.Experience working with large data sets is an advantage.If you meet some of these requirements, but not all, we encourage you to submit your application.
