Full Description Mixed farming with sheep focus as well as cropping Opportunity for career progression Seeking a driven Agricultural career focused individual Seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and self-motivated Senior Farm Hand to join the team. Our clients run a successful family owned and operated mixed farming operation in the Western Districts area near Streatham, Victoria. Recently expanded and now totalling 4,000 ha, the business follows industry best practice and high production systems running: A broadacre cropping program includes sowing 2,300 Ha of wheat, canola and fava beans grown in rotation for grain and grazing depending on the season. 7,000 composite ewes and 3000 Australian White ewes. The lambs are grown to restocker or finishing weights depending on the season and market, with an emphasis on ewe health and best possible return to the next lambing cycle. The property uses modern, automated sheep handling facilities and operates under the Lifetime Ewe Management System for optimum production outcomes. The Senior Farm Hand will have a  strong focus on the sheep enterprise (50%) but will also be involved in cropping operations (40%) at an operation level as required, with general R & M farm duties (10%). The successful applicant will be a key team member, working within the current management program initially and then progression to a  greater involvement in planning, systems, and-strategies for the future. You will be of positive nature, capable and experienced in all aspects of sheep and cropping, including: Production feeding and strategic feeding to obtain high scanning rates and healthy progeny Healthy flock through pasture management and supplementary feeding. Manage a Nucleus Flock to provide ram replacements. Input into water systems, handling facilities, shearing facilities, and other maintenance programs. Cropping and general seeding work including tractor driving and spraying Harvest related activities including header, truck and chaser-bin operation. GPS operation and VRT use Strong herbicide and pesticide knowledge Sound agronomic knowledge WH & S knowledge and focus on compliance
