About the Property
This orchard and truffière has a total area of 139 hectares. There are significant fine/boutique produce operations, including a complex sub-surface irrigation/fertigation system, drone technology and other precision farming operations. The farm is located only 25Km from the closest town, and is nearby to the high-rainfall areas of the Great Southern region of WA.
About the Role
Reporting to the Farm Manager, the Senior Farm Hand will contribute to the horticultural, orchard and general cropping production program. A unique requirement will be the onsite husbandry of a large truffle hunting pedigree dog team, making sure their health, welfare and training is of your utmost priority. This role is also responsible for, but not limited to spraying, pruning, irrigation, ploughing, planting, fertilising, watering, and harvesting of orchard and horticultural produce.
Key Responsibilities: Assist with day-to-day aspects of truffière production, orchard and general cropping. Constant husbandry, feeding and tending to the onsite truffle-hunting dog team. Assist with operation and upkeep of the irrigation system, pumps, motors and pipework/connections. Assist with land management practices including:weed and pest control drought preparedness soil erosion prevention fire management nature conservation Machinery operation and maintenance – general servicing, maintenance and repairs of property vehicles, machinery, small motors and irrigation infrastructure. Carrying out general property maintenance and repairs. Adherence to safe operating procedures.
