Justice reinvestment is a long-term, community-led approach that aims to prevent crime, address the drivers of contact with the justice system, and improve justice outcomes for First Nations peoples in a particular place or community.
An interim Justice Reinvestment Unit is to be established in the Attorney-General's Department to support communities funded under the justice reinvestment programs to successfully implement their initiatives.
The Interim Justice Reinvestment Unit will also lead the development of a justice reinvestment measurement and evaluation framework, and the design of the final Justice Reinvestment Unit working in-line with the Priority Reforms and in partnership with key First Nations and State and Territory Government stakeholders.
The successful candidate will lead a small Branch to deliver these objectives.
The head of the interim Unit will represent the Unit in key external and internal forums, including the Justice Policy Partnership.
You will be responsible for the strategic direction, corporate management and the development and implementation of a forward work plan.
You will lead the transition of the Unit to its final structure in a planned and strategic way that values the voice of Community and ensures continuity of support to funded communities, and be responsible for change management throughout the transition period.
Roles in the interim Unit will be on a 12-month temporary basis with the potential for extension or transition into the final Unit once established.
This role will involve some travel, including to remote locations.
