The Roles ONI is recruiting for a number of current or possible future vacancies in its senior executive service (SES) at the Band 1 level. These are outstanding opportunities for leaders with initiative, drive, integrity, a depth of experience and a motivation to do work of national significance. To be eligible for these roles, you will have a highly developed understanding of Australia's international political, strategic and economic interests, and a proven record in one or more of several fields including national security, foreign policy analysis or practice, finance, management consulting, project management or corporate administration. Successful candidates will take responsibility for delivering intelligence products to government or delivering enterprise services in a complex and sensitive environment. Candidates will be experienced leaders who will coordinate national intelligence efforts across ONI, the intelligence community and government more broadly. This recruitment process is intended to fill both current vacancies and those that may arise in the future. The role for which we are recruiting an outstanding candidate to join ONI now is: Corporate security and facilities functions: developing capability and leading ONI's corporate security (physical, cyber and personnel) and property functions to support ONI and its people effectively and efficiently deliver ONI's objectives. The roles for which we are recruiting to fill possible future vacancies are in the following areas: Intelligence assessments: overseeing the production of intelligence assessments, including in specialist areas such as strategic and military assessment, or specific areas of geographic or thematic focus. NIC intelligence missions: leading and managing the NIC's effort in fulfilling intelligence missions. Corporate and enabling: developing capability and managing corporate enabling functions to support ONI in meeting its objectives. Analytical capability and intelligence production: developing ONI and NIC capability in analysis and tradecraft, and directing the development and publication of ONI intelligence products delivered in effective, technologically sophisticated and innovative ways. Intelligence enterprise: analysing and advising on NIC capability and performance, deepening community collaboration and leading engagement with government and international partners. Candidates may express interest in more than one of the above areas and should indicate their interests when submitting their applications. Key Attributes The successful candidate will demonstrate the following broad attributes: Strong understanding of Australia's international political, strategic and economic interests. Capacity to exercise influence across the National Intelligence Community and government more broadly. Exceptional representational skills including the ability to identify, establish and nurture new relationships and maintain cooperative interactions within the agency and externally. Experience in integrating diverse activities spanning multiple agencies to achieve whole-of-government outcomes. Strong people management skills and the ability to lead high-performing, diverse teams who are empowered to succeed. Integrity in making informed decisions which consider risk and value different perspectives, contributions and backgrounds. Ability to identify and embrace innovative methods and improved practices to achieve excellent outcomes that align with organisational objectives and anticipated future requirements.
