As the Senior Estimator for Major Projects, you will play a crucial role in working effectively with Engineering Solutions, Project Managers, Estimators, and other stakeholders to complete project cost estimates based on Scope of works or itemised requests with accuracy, budget constraints, and project timeline.
You will play a fundamental part in the engineering process and become a key component of project development.
With 3 days in the office, 2 days' work from home, this role is based in Southbank, Victoria and is part of the Engineering Solutions team. This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to: Provide technical engineering, cost advice and quality technical support to the team and broader department. Reviewing technical requirements on each High-Level design project including project constraints and deliverables, seeking clarification where required and ensuring that secondary requirements are coordinated with Primary, Secondary, Civil and Environmental needs Establishing and maintaining communications among all project and program stakeholders Manage and review the production of estimations required by the business from project initiation to close out Communicating the status of the estimations to the Estimation Lead and Group Lead Identification of technical risks and allocate budget. Provide technical guidance in relation to complex problems by applying technical knowledge, skills, and judgment to achieve outcome Establish, maintain, and improve processes and procedures demonstrating inventiveness independently whilst adopting accepted practices Maintain cost and project libraries in estimation software. You don't need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of: A minimum bachelor's degree in engineering qualification, however proven experience will be considered. Significant experience in civil, electrical, transmission and/or distribution industry. Self-motivated and comfortable with working autonomously but also proven ability to work in a team environment. Considerable knowledge of other engineering disciplines and their impacts on civil, structural design and construction. Demonstrated ability to create, build and grow relationships and business partnerships to build effective working relationships within the project team and external customers. Understanding key customer and stakeholder needs and requirements. High level of organisational skills and effectively handling multiple tasks, setting priorities, managing timeframes and meeting deadlines under pressure. A detailed knowledge and understanding of various Australian standards such as civil, structural, substation and Transmission/Distribution. Knowledge of Expert Estimation software is preferred.
