This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of estimating within our company while enjoying a flexible, family-friendly work environment.The Role:As the Senior Estimator / Estimating Manager, you will lead a talented team of estimators, playing a key role in managing the preparation of competitive, accurate bids for a diverse range of civil projects. Whilst overseeing all aspects of the estimating process, you'll also play an active part in the preparation of tenders, ensuring that every detail is accurate and competitive. Working closely with the Commercial Director, you'll provide valuable input into the strategic direction of our estimating function, while still maintaining the hands-on aspect of delivering key portions of tender documentation and estimates yourself.Key Responsibilities:Collaborate on Strategy: You will work hand-in-hand with the Commercial Director to develop estimating strategies that align with the company's broader business goals. This will involve regular discussions on project priorities, cost forecasts, and bid submissions.Bid & Tender Management: Take charge of preparing and submitting bids for large-scale civil projects, ensuring they meet client specifications, project objectives, and deadlines. Together with the Commercial Director, you'll review tender submissions to ensure they reflect accurate and competitive pricing while aligning with client expectations and project requirements.Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and support a team of estimators, fostering a collaborative, family-like atmosphere that encourages growth, learning, and mutual respect.Collaboration with Senior Management: Work closely with the Commercial Director, Project Managers, and senior leadership team to ensure all project estimates are aligned with the company's financial objectives and client needs.Process Improvement: Help implement best practices and continuous improvements in the estimating process to ensure we remain competitive, efficient, and proactive in the industry.Qualifications:A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a relevant Civil Trade Qualification.Proven experience as a Senior Estimator or Estimating Manager in the civil construction industry, with experience leading a team and preparing high-value tenders.Proven ability to manage large, complex tenders and provide strategic cost estimates for projects ranging from earthworks, road construction, underground utilities installation, to full subdivisions.Strong ability to balance leadership with a hands-on approach, being actively involved in preparing portions of tenders and cost estimates yourself.Proficiency in estimating software and advanced knowledge of industry tools and methods.Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a strong ability to mentor and develop teams.A commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.Why Join Us?Family-Owned Values: As a family-run business, we believe in treating our team like family.
