Responsible for the preparation of tenders across multiple disciplines in various forms of project delivery. Job Description As a Senior Estimator your role will include the following:
Tender Management:
Review and check tender documents ensuring all tender documents received are correct
Review tender documents assessing scope, risks involved, tender complexity
Conduct site inspections for understanding, analysis of conditions, assessment of risk and identification of activities
Formulate direct and indirect tender costs from first principle estimating methods into CCS Candy estimating software
Source subcontractors and suppliers capable of complying with tender
Obtain/ assess quotations from suppliers and sub-contractors, designers and prepare schedules for labour, plant, material and sub-contractor costs and comparisons
Organise and present to Senior Managers for tender cost and method review and complete approval process prior to submission
Compile letter of offer, tender schedules, program and other items required by the tender submission
Coordinate with Financial Director for costs to insurances and bonds
Mentoring young graduates and junior estimators.
Business development:
Assistance to regional manager in EOIs: prepare an EOI/tender budget, technical support, etc.
Operations:
Assistance to construction teams: claims, variations to the contract, alternatives
Project review.
Commercial:
Keep up to date and abreast of industry factors that may impact on the business
Maintain and foster relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, clients and other business contacts
Forecasting and monitoring of costs.
Required Skills and Competencies Relevant skills and experience:
Civil Infrastructure i ndustry experience critical
10 years plus Estimating experience in infrastructure, road, rail and building construction would be ideal
Formal qualifications in Civil Engineering preferred
Advanced estimating skills using Candy and Expert estimating software
Working knowledge of P6/ MS Project.
Excellent knowledge of construction methodologies and planning.
Analytical skills with an eye for detail and accuracy with numbers.
Advanced time management skills.
Working knowledge of Australian Standards /local regulations.
