The Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security (DEPWS) was established with a clear vision that the Northern Territory's natural assets are managed sustainably for the benefit of all.
The Environmental Regulation Division is responsible for striking a balance between protecting the Territory's environment and enabling development.
The Division ensures compliance with the Territory's environmental laws by applying best practice regulatory principles across the regulatory spectrum, from assessment through to compliance and enforcement.
As a Senior Environment Officer, you will use your environmental science, impact assessment and regulation skills to effectively and efficiently administer the Petroleum (Environment) Regulations 2016, including the assessment of, and/or ensuring compliance with, Environment Management Plans.
You will play a key leadership role in effectively administering the Territory's environmental legislation for onshore petroleum in line with the Division's best practice regulatory principles, annual Compliance Plan and Compliance and Enforcement Framework.
To be successful, you will have proven experience in environmental assessment, management or auditing/compliance and regulation.
You also require an ability to manage multiple projects, negotiate, problem-solve and work independently.
