The Environmental Regulation Division is responsible for striking a balance between protecting the Territory's environment and enabling sustainable development.
The Division ensures compliance with the Territory's environmental laws by applying best practice regulatory principles across the regulatory spectrum, from assessment through to compliance and enforcement.
We commit to being proportionate, accountable, consistent, targeted and transparent (PACTT) in providing our regulatory service.As a Senior Environment Officer, you will use your skills and knowledge of environmental science, environmental management and regulation to effectively and efficiently administer the NT's environmental legislation.
You will be involved in the assessment, approval and licensing of activities that may potentially harm the environment and undertake compliance and enforcement action to ensure environmental safeguards are met.You will play a key leadership role in the team to regulate in line with the Division's annual Compliance Plan and Compliance and Enforcement Framework and provide specialist advice and support to junior officers in a mentoring role.To be successful, you will have proven experience in environmental science, management and/or auditing/compliance and regulation.
