As a key contributor to Council's success in environmental health outcomes, your mission will be to ensure that this growth is sustainable through the development and implementation of policy and regulatory frameworks. Likewise, you will demonstrate a pragmatic and customer-centric ethos when regulating a diverse range of food premises on offer within the region. Being a tourism and events destination, you will work with local event stall holders to ensure the highest level of public hygiene and sanitation. You will drive the onsite sewer management strategy and utilize your effective time management skills to prioritize and program regulatory systems to ensure optimal environmental protection and compliance. Balancing an educative and regulatory approach to your work, you will be front facing with the client to deliver the strategy while ensuring that Council maintains the highest level of professionalism. You will be able to showcase your leadership skills and experience by building capacity in the team. Mentoring and guiding less experienced staff in decision-making processes is integral to this position. Centrally located, you will work between the desirable locations of Tumut and Tumbarumba. Key components of this position will include: Administering relevant legislation, Australian Standards, council policies and procedures Informing and advising the council and community on health and environmental matters Providing expert advice, conducting on-site assessments and determining the suitability of on-site sewage management and wastewater treatment system proposals Issuing permits in accordance with Environment Protection Act requirements, Codes of Practice and Australian Standards Leading the development, implementation, monitoring and review of policies and procedures, process improvements and the establishment and monitoring of key performance indicators Managing the investigation and resolution of complaints, issuing notices and taking appropriate action Addressing internal and external customer enquiries to support efficient service delivery Working from your choice of location within the Local Government Area will ensure that you leverage the benefits commensurate with the enviable lifestyle of the Snowy Valleys region. To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced professional with tertiary qualifications in health and environment or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through professional experience. REWARD: The Total Remuneration Package (TRP) for this position is circa $114,611, and a substantial market allowance will be negotiated with the right candidate depending on skills, qualifications, and experience. A fully maintained Council motor vehicle will be made available for private use on a leaseback arrangement.
