A secondary role is to manage compliance with these approvals through client-side assurance and auditing support.Aventus is seeking a Senior Environmental Consultant (5-10 years experience) to join our team in obtaining environmental approvals for energy projects across Australia.The role reports to the Managing Director and involves:Providing environmental and regulatory advice to clients.Preparing and coordinating environmental impact assessment (EIA) documents, including:Offshore Environment Plans (EPs);Onshore Environmental Management Plans (EMPs);EPBC Act Referrals.Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) (Cth); andEnvironmental Effects Statement (EES) (Vic).Preparing or coordinating Oil Spill Emergency Plans (OPEPs).Coordinating (scope, manage and review) specialist consultants to deliver technical studies used to support EIA (e.g., ecology, heritage, and modelling studies for oil spill, underwater sound, produced formation water, drill cuttings and muds dispersion) and summarising and interpreting results for EIA reports.Participating in and/or facilitating risk assessment workshops.Providing technical support for stakeholder consultation;Liaising with government regulators.Working closely with clients' engineering teams.Assisting clients with project implementation (compliance and assurance management, end-of-project reporting).Leading and/or assisting with inspections and audits (you must be prepared to travel by vessel and helicopter offshore) and preparing audit reports.Working to a high standard within time and budget.Building relationships with clients to promote the business and win projects.Contributing to the preparation of project proposals.Supporting the Director with other duties as required.Qualifications:Degree in environmental science, marine science, ecology, or related field.Skills & Experience:5-10 years consulting experience.Strong experience preparing EIA for offshore petroleum environmental approvals (seismic, drilling, development, operations) or offshore wind approvals.Understanding of hydrocarbon spill behaviour, preparedness and response.Working knowledge of Commonwealth and state-based environmental and industry-specific legislation, particularly the OPGGS(E) Regulations and EPBC Act.Managing compliance programs.Working knowledge of risk assessment methods.Proven problem-solving skills.Excellent technical writing skills and attention to detail.Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.Application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).Vehicle driving licence.IdealOnshore and/or offshore auditing experience.On-ground environmental management.HSE management system development and implementation.You are expected to possess the following personal qualities:Strong work ethic.Personable and friendly.Ability to multi-task and manage time.Ability to work independently as required.High computer literacy.Be adaptable and flexible to meet project requirements in a deadline-driven working environment.You will be working in a small team where your specialist knowledge and skills are highly valued.You will be joining the business during an exciting growth phase.We see our projects through from approvals to implementation.Varied, diverse and complex projects; no two days are the same.We are an informal, flexible and fun workplace.Your continued learning and professional development are supported.Attractive remuneration package.Located a short stroll to open green space, pool, gym and childcare facilities.This is a full-time staff position based in our Melbourne office.Applicants must be eligible to work in Australia to be considered.Aventus is an equal opportunity employer.How do your skills match this job?Your application will include the following questions:Which of the following statements best describes your right to work in Australia?How many years' experience do you have as an Environmental Consultant?How many years' experience do you have in a consulting role?Do you have technical writing experience?Have you worked in a role where you were responsible for authoring and reviewing technical documentation?Are you available to travel for this role when required?How many years of project management experience do you have?What's your expected annual base salary?
