The Senior Environmental Consultant in Queensland will provide expertise, ingenuity and judgement in the water and environment field.
The Senior Environmental Consultant will have a strong focus on environmental assessment and environmental approvals.
They will act as Project Manager and/or technical expert and work with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high quality environmental and approval services for BMT's customers.
This will include liaison with State and Commonwealth agencies.
The Senior Environmental Consultant will:
Have expertise in their field with strong technical capability in environmental investigations, assessment, environmental planning, and approvals.Provide strategic and statutory environmental advice to clients in a variety of sectors, with a focus on coastal and maritime infrastructure works.Build upon existing and develop new client relationships to further the APAC environment business.Provide technical advice and guidance within the national BMT environment team.In this role you will be able to:
Liaise with potential and current clients for the purposes of service delivery and business development.Perform high quality and professional technical work requiring a high degree of independence and judgement.Serve as a technical specialist in the areas of environmental approvals, environmental assessment, and project management.Supervise and review the work of team members and external consultants.Share knowledge and act as mentor within the area of expertise.Prepare, review, and submit proposals / tenders.Project manage across a range of projects to scope and within time, cost and quality requirements.Undertake specific technical tasks including but not limited to:Environmental and planning approvals, policies and strategic adviceEnvironmental impact assessments, management plans and risk assessments, e.g.
using ISO 31000Environmental auditing and/or contractor managementRelevant Education, Experience, and Skills: Essential: Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Planning, Engineering, or other relevant area of study.More than 5 years' experience post-graduation.Demonstrated experience in Queensland environmental approvals regime and/or Commonwealth environmental approvals regime.Willingness to learn new environmental approvals regimes.Demonstrated experience in undertaking environmental assessments.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Strong technical background in environmental consulting.Desirable: Experience working within a multi-site organisation.Experience working with the engineering, coastal, maritime or resources sectors.Post-graduate qualifications in environmental management or other relevant area of study.Why work with us: Our employee benefits are designed to ensure you have the resources you need to thrive.
