We have an opportunity for a Senior Environmental Advisor to join our Isaac Plains Complex team.
This role will be accountable for providing environmental support to the operation in line with the company's environmental management plans and regulatory requirements.
Job Description Key Accountabilities & Activities: Maintain business-wide standards for environmental approvals and compliance documentation.
Provide technical environmental approvals and compliance advice to project teams.
Ensure that appropriate interaction occurs with government, community, and other stakeholders to satisfy environmental approval and compliance processes.
Provide assistance and support to the Environmental & Community Principal with implementing new site Environment Projects, Programs and Initiatives.
Develop, update and implement Site based Management Plan(s) requirements, and maintain compliance with the business Environmental Management System.
Provide guidance and service to operational personnel and relevant external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of the Environmental Plan, including compliance with corporate and legislative requirements.
Manage the EA, EPBC Act, and SSRC Act compliance provisions across site boundaries, ensuring governance and adherence to all environmental statutory obligations.
Liaise with internal and external key stakeholders, including cultural heritage partners, landowners, and relevant government reporting bodies.
Prepare and submit relevant environmental reports, ensuring statutory compliance and continuity of operations.
Be involved in environmental incident investigations and implement corrective actions, including coordination and data gathering.
Conduct sampling activities as a regular task and as needed, ensuring all record keeping is compliant and complete.
Conduct, coordinate, and supervise environmental monitoring contractors.
A knowledge of, and commitment to, safety systems and practices within the Mining Industry.
Support our Community Investment Framework and initiatives where required.
Support other environmental activities and initiatives as directed by the business.
To be a success you will need: A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role or within other heavy industry roles (desirable).
A solid knowledge of Queensland and Commonwealth environmental legislation and compliance processes.
Experience in project and contractor management to deliver team results and achieve tight timeframes.
Aptitude to solve problems quickly with advanced conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills to achieve project outcomes.
Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing business needs.
An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
Familiarity with the relevant regulations regarding document keeping and handling.
Able to proactively manage database changes using software management systems.
Bachelor's degree in science or similar.
