Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering modern leisure facilities. The Role Are you experienced within environmental management, approvals, capital projects and closure reclamation and looking to take the next step in your career with a global company? You will effectively represent, promote and protect the company's business interests in a manner that is consistent with internal and external standards in addition to community agreements and social impact management plans. You will be driving critical major capital projects, manage contractors, provide specialist support with reclamation and rehabilitation and contribute to the wider activities of the NTO S&ER Department. Key Tasks Demonstrable experience working in environmental management and approvals An understanding of Management Systems Current Australian Drivers Licence Experience in Supervising/Managing consultants Knowledge of and ability to apply environmental and land access laws and regulations that includes evaluating and preparing for potential impacts to projects and future operations as a result of proposed permits Ability to identify and communicate with internal and external stakeholders in an effective manner Ability to work on medium term time horizons of multiple years to achieve project requirements up to a five year period. Knowledge of project management and study processes and the application to the development of permitting Tertiary qualification in Environmental Management, Environmental Science or Engineering is advantageous but not essential Sound knowledge in relevant areas such as biology, zoology, hydrology, environmental science, soils and geology About You Ability to collaborate with groups and individuals at all levels Sensitivity and respect for communities and partners Work well in a lively team environment Planning and problem solving Personal alignment to Newmont Values Organised and persistent Report writing and effective presentation skills Outcomes focused and able to consistently meet agreed schedules Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point Current manual transmission Drivers Licence; GIS mapping and GPS Demonstrate experience scoping of contractors Closure and reclamation and rehabilitation Working conditions The role is based in Tanami and offers a FIFO roster from Perth, Darwin, Alice Springs, and Brisbane.
