Environment and Planning Consultants (Sr & Mid-Level Consultants) Sequana is a vibrant and growing project management consultancy providing strategic advisory and management services across the water, environment and energy sectors. You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of major projects across the business in the water, energy and environment sectors. The role will be both an advisory and hands-on role on some of the largest, most complex projects and programs within these sectors.
Your core skill set in the fields of Environmental Impact Assessment and Statutory Planning, including your written and verbal communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills together with your ability to work in cross-functional teams will be demonstrably strong. Passionate about supporting our Centre of Excellence, you are ready to help grow our Strategic Environment and Planning team to deliver advice and insights that solve our client's problems and deliver initiatives, programs, and projects.
What you do
Collaborate with senior management, including the Director, Strategic Environment and Planning and Executive Director, Environment and Planning in establishing and implementing a long-term strategic plan for Sequana's Strategic Environment and Planning team. Support our internal Water and Energy consultancy teams in relation to planning and environmental management matters. Support planning and environmental projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are executed on time and within budget. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure planning and environmental considerations are integrated into project design, execution, and monitoring processes. Keep abreast of local, regional, and national planning and environmental regulations, ensuring that all projects and initiatives comply with relevant laws and guidelines. Provision of technical planning and environmental advice to internal and external stakeholders. Liaison with statutory authorities for planning and environmental work permits and approvals. Preparation, administration, and assessment of contracts in relation to planning and environmental management. Support work programs to ensure that they are delivered to client expectations, timeframes, costs and specifications. Work with a diverse and inclusive team who are responsible for the delivery, completion, and reporting of projects. Engage and establish strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Supporting a culture of delivery excellence through coaching and knowledge sharing with both client and Sequana colleagues. Develop and foster trusted relationships with key clients. Who you are
Candidates should possess:
Tertiary qualifications or similar relevant qualifications in environmental science, engineering or a related field. Understanding and experience of Environmental Impact Assessment and Statutory Planning processes. An experienced planning and environment practitioner (a min of 3 - 5 years of industry experience at the consultant level, and a min of 8 years of experience at the senior consultant level), with the ability to manage a diverse portfolio of functions whilst maintaining a focus on critical issues. Proven experience and knowledge of the Water, Energy and Environment Sectors. Proven experience in project management overseeing the planning, execution, and monitoring of projects. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals, including government agencies, community representatives, and industry professionals. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Excellent presentation and report writing abilities. Sound understanding of integrated management systems encompassing quality, safety, and environmental aspects. Budgeting skills together with the ability to perform under pressure whilst providing high-quality outcomes in every aspect of work. A consultancy and/or public sector background sector experience is preferred (but not essential). High level of business and personal ethics.
