Civil Consult is a geotechnical and structural engineering consultancy business based in Ballina, New South Wales. For more than a decade, Civil Consult have delivered specialist geotechnical, structural, temporary works and landslide remediation engineering solutions for projects in Northern New South Wales and Southeast Queensland.

About the Role
As a Senior / Principal Geotechnical Engineer, you will remain hands on with project delivery, attend site inspections, attend client meetings, develop/review/approve geotechnical design solutions and lead a team of Project Managers, Engineers and Engineering Geologists in a collaborative working environment.

Your responsibilities will include:
Development, Review and Chartered Engineers signoff of geotechnical investigation, design and analysis relating to geotechnical services which may include: Scoping and management of geotechnical investigations Slope stability analysis Safety in Design Soil-structure finite element analysis (experience in geotechnical finite element modelling is mandatory) Site characterisation and determination of geotechnical parameters Analysis using spreadsheets or software for: foundation and retaining wall systems, earthworks and temporary working platforms, ground improvement, temporary works designs, bearing capacity analysis, pavement design. Project management of large geotechnical consulting projects. Preparing and reviewing scope and fee proposal submissions prepared by junior engineers. Work collaboratively with Civil Consults existing team to scope, manage and deliver projects on time, within budget, and to a high standard Office management Strict management of budgets, project timeframes and design/construction quality Implementation, maintenance and improvement of systems and QA WHS/OHS management Mentor and develop junior staff Develop and maintain client relationships Identify and pursue business opportunities to grow the geotechnical business unit Minimum qualifications and skills
Australian tertiary qualification in Geotechnical/Civil/Structural Engineering Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), Currently registered with Engineers Australia 10+ years Australian geotechnical experience Excellent communication and client management skills A full Australian Drivers License Australian work rights Highly experienced in geotechnical design, analysis, investigations and reporting (finite element analysis, slope stability analysis, pile and retaining wall design, pavement design, foundation bearing capacity and settlement analysis using industry standard software packages. Proficient with software packages such as Circly, Plaxis (or other FEA analysis package), L-Pile, Rocscience Slide, AutoCAD and Microsoft office. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team Familiarity with standards and methods applicable to geotechnical design Proficient at speaking and writing English Additional qualifications and skills
Registered Professional Engineers of Queensland (RPEQ) Experience in business development and networking with clients Office and staff management How to Apply
