Job Summary: The Senior Industrial Designer/Human Factors is charged with improving user experiences across a variety of products, focusing on improving product utility and overall customer satisfaction based on insights and user-centered research. The incumbent will have a hands-on approach to the delivery of Industrial Design solutions to complex functional problems using the following methods: form development sketching and CAD development, ethnographic, ergonomic or human factors research, interaction and industrial design. Duties & Responsibilities: Discover opportunities for improving user experiences across full line of medical products;Author solutions that have a positive effect for the business and our customers;Assemble persuasive presentations for internal leadership and external clinical customers; Create graphic and 3D ergonomic concepts for research and internal presentations;Conduct research with clinical users and analyze and integrate findings into design;Challenge traditional thinking in medical product design;Actively seek out trends in design and ergonomic principles across a variety of industries;Ability to work with and mentor junior Industrial Designers on the team;Works with cross-functional project teams;Performs other duties or special projects as assigned;Minimum & Preferred Qualifications and Experience: Minimum Qualifications: Seven years of professional experience as Industrial or Interaction Designer;CAD proficiency – Solidworks strongly preferred;Illustrator, Photoshop, Power Point and Excel expertise;Able to conduct, document, and present findings from user centered research;Excellent eye for layout, typography and color;Ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines;Strong storyboarding and rapid visualization skills;Experience working independently as well as with teams in a complex environment;Some prior experience in human factors design & research;Strong portfolio samples demonstrating above skills required; Ability to articulate design solutions to managementPreferred Qualifications: 10+ years of professional experience as Industrial Designer;Solidworks CAD proficiency – demonstrated ability to create complex surfaces;Illustrator, Photoshop, Power Point and Excel – high level expertise;Experience developing a visual language across a product line;Able to conduct, document, and present findings from user centered research;Medical device experience preferred;Strong background in human factors design/research or graphic design; Strong presentation skills and ability to articulate design solutions to managementEducation: B.A. degree in Industrial Design is required. M.A./M.S. degree in Industrial Design is preferred. Physical requirements/Work Environment This position primarily works in an office environment. It requires frequent sitting, standing and walking. Daily use of a computer and other computing and digital devices is required. May stand for extended periods when facilitating meetings or walking in the facilities. Some local travel is necessary, so the ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid Driver's license is required.
